1. August is the busiest vacation month of the year.  This is the time to make sure that your main water shutoff valve works.  Shut off the main water valve prior to going on vacation - this prevents having leaks and damage while on vacation - and turn it on upon returning home.

2. Clean the tub and sink drains: test detectors and GFCI outlets. (Check your homeowners guide for details)
